Experience the pristine beaches and scenic coastal landscape of the mid north coast of NSW. Located centrally between Sydney and Brisbane on the east coast of Australia, Scotts Head is the ideal beach holiday experience. Scotts Head is a seaside town with spectacular ocean and mountain views a short drive from Macksville or Nambucca Heads. Coffs Harbour airport is 40mins drive to the north.
Scotts Head is a place of natural beauty, great swimming and surfing beaches. There are beautiful oceanfront walks to experience the rugged headlands, nearby National Park and arching sands of Forster Beach (known by the locals as Big Beach) and Little Beach. Forster Beach is regularly patrolled by Life Savers from the local Surf Club and is considered one of the areas most enjoyable family beaches with calm waters and yellow sands.
For those who love fishing there is rock fishing directly out the front of the house, in addition to beach, river or ocean fishing. Launch your boat or kayak from the boat ramps on Big Beach or just at the back of town on Warrell Creek.
For those less active, watch the surfers catch the waves on the headland break from the surfers viewing platform then continue with a short walk up to the headland lookout which has a spectacular view up and down the coast. Maybe you will catch dolphins dancing in the waves or just passing by. During the winter months this part of the coast is a great place to experience the migration of whales up and down the east coast.
There is also a large children's playground located close to the beaches with lots of picnic and free BBQ facilities. Nearby tennis courts are available for hire. For the keen lawn bowler there is the Bowling and Recreation Club which is family friendly with its own bistro, bar and full range of club facilities.
The town contains a number of shops for your every day convenience - a baker, butcher, liquor shop, supermarket and 3 cafes/restaurants. Nearby Macksville also has a number of services (including a hospital) and shops with at least 2 supermarkets one of which is Woolworths. There is also a great historic pub over looking the river - great for lunch or dinner. Nambucca heads is only only 22 minutes away by car or 10 minutes by boat, some great restaurants, bars and cafes here overlooking the river. There are also some extra wave options here as well....
